What Is The Bitrate And Why Is It Needed?

For sure, you've already encountered the bitrate when exporting your project and you've wondered: "What is it?". So, we'll tell you.

The bitrate is the number of bits per second, that is, the data transfer rate and the compression ratio of the video. As a rule, it determines the size and quality of video and audio files. The higher the bitrate, the better the quality and the larger the file size.

A video clip with the low bitrate has low quality in digital format. Moreover, you can see how the video is blurred, dim and pixelated when playing. In a high-quality bitrate, you can see a rich color scheme and hear a high-quality sound, because the range of music will be really distinguishable and clear.

If you want to increase the bitrate value in order to improve the quality, then it won't make sense if the quality of the source data is poor. And vice versa, reducing the bitrate for higher-quality material will make the final result worse, but will reduce the size required for data storage.

I hope you'll better understand what bitrate means and how it affects almost everything you do on your computer or mobile device.

In the video industry, it's impossible to work without knowledge of special terminology that facilitates the workflow and communication between project participants.

Do you ever feel that you're watching a video and want to turn it off? There are many reasons: it can be uninteresting content that you came across by accident or it's a very interesting video, but shot and edited so clumsily.

When you are planning a video, one of the first thing you should do is a storyboard. This is a mandatory step that depicts the script but in a slightly different way: breaking the video into key scenes in the form of a series of illustrations or sketches.

Bitness of the image, also known as bit depth, is a term in the computer graphics sphere, which refers to the number of bits used per one pixel. There is a direct relationship between depth and the number of colors image can store: higher the depth, more colors can be stored.

Stop Motion is an animated film making technique where objects are moved in a certain sequence and photographed at each stage. Then this series of pictures is glued together, and an audio track is put to it.

It's not enough to know the tools and functionality of editing programs because every editor knows them. You should be able to create unique projects that will set you apart from other specialists. But sometimes you don't have enough ideas or skills to create a really cool video.

Each of you who is interested in videos and in creating your own content asks the questions: "Who do I make a video for? For what?" or "Should I start doing this?" and many others. There's no definite answer, because everyone has their own aim. But we've made a list of the most important reasons why it's worth doing video.
