You should be careful with your work and follow the rules.

st mistake: using same types of shots through out the video. When using same types of shots, several times in a row, keep in your memory that this way of editing possibly will be found annoying by some viewers. Don’t use this sequence: wide-wide-wide, or this one: close-close-close, instead use something like this wide-close-wide.

nd mistake: too much of color correction. Some people believe that more color correction means the better video quality, well that is not the case. Even if you feel that the picture looks perfectly on your display, don’t forget that most of us have different hardware. Even if the video looks good on your screen, this fact doesn’t guarantee that it will look this good on customer’s screen. It is possible that on client`s screen video will be over-contrasted, so always aim into the golden mean.

rd mistake: inappropriate music. Music should be connected to your visual part, if you are showing a calm scene, aggressive and intense music will break the atmosphere. Same goes to the action scene with relaxing soundtrack.

th mistake: using 1 footage for too long. Don’t use 1 footage for too long, this will not only slow down your work`s storytelling, but also will bore the viewer out.

th mistake: long intro (the part of the video with your logo). Well, this point is pretty similar to the last one. Long intro may lead to the loss of viewer’s attention. Don`t use your intro at the very beginning of the video, it will be better to use it after the moment when you have captured audience`s attention.

th mistake: wrong import/export of the video. This mistake occurs when the editor doesn’t ask the client about his desired outcome at the begging of the working process. For example: client wants a small HD video, which should load fast on a website, then editor shouldn’t export the final video material in FHD or 4K.

th mistake: losing the video`s pace. Researches show that nowadays authors have only 1 minute to gain viewer`s interest, which means that the beginning of the video should have a high pace and a big concentration of interesting stuff, just like the end, however it is completely ok to slow things a bit down at the middle point.
